Job Description

The Department of Chemistry of the University of Nevada, Reno seeks applications for a one-year temporary Teaching Assistant Professor position to begin on August 19, 2024. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate level, including general chemistry, along with supervision of associated laboratories with the help of graduate level teaching assistants.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Chemistry or closely related field by the time of appointment and teaching experience.

  • Completion of a Doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of ability in and strong commitment to the following areas:  teaching effectively at the introductory general chemistry level; developing and implementing new lecture and laboratory curricula; management of an instructional laboratory program.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Department Information

The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry, as well as an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Chemical Physics.  The department has 22 full-time instructional faculty (18 tenure-track and four non-tenure track instructional) and is housed in a four-story building with state-of-the-art research facilities.  Undergraduate laboratory courses are taught in our modern instructional facilities in the nearby Davidson Mathematics and Science Center.
