Summary of Duties:
Washington State University, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor - Career Track faculty position on the Health Sciences campus in Spokane, WA. This position is a fixed-term, full-time, twelve-month, annual appointment with the possibility of renewal. Expected start date for this position is July 1, 2024.
The responsibilities of the position are teaching (80%), scholarship (10%), and service (10%). The ideal candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence; the ability to mentor a diverse student body; interest in contributing to the service, equity, diversity, and inclusion missions of the college and campus; and ability to develop and implement didactic activities that foster the development of our PharmD candidates, their pharmacy knowledge and skills, verbal/written communication, and the clinical application of their knowledge and skills in various courses.
The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has two departments - the Department of Pharmacotherapy and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Flexibility exists for the department assignment of this teaching position based on the successful candidate's expertise and interests.
Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Residency or Fellowship training, or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas teaching, general pharmacy practice, acute care, internal medicine, ambulatory care, or family medicine
  • Demonstrated experience teaching pharmacy courses with student-centered pedagogy practices, in both didactic and discussion-based formats
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in education
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively in a departmental setting
  • Washington pharmacist licensure or eligibility to obtain Washington licensure within 45 days of hire date.

Additional Required Qualifications for Candidates at Associate rank:
  • Current or previous appointment at the Associate rank or equivalent at a post-secondary institution; OR experience determined to be equivalent.
  • Record of accomplishments applicable to the sub-track in teaching and/or service activities commensurate with college and university standards for Associate rank.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise/experience in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical calculations

Annual Salary:
Teaching Assistant Professor Rank: $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience
Teaching Associate Professor Rank: $120,000 - $140,000 commensurate with experience
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This is a temporary, fixed-term, 12-month, career track position which is intended to be renewed annually dependent upon performance, funding, and mutual agreement.

Background Check: This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need. A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.
