Full Job Description:

The Engineering Department is hiring a teaching assistant (TA) to assist with ENGR301: Applied Linear Algebra. The TA will work approximately 10 hours per week during the Spring 2024 semester. The primary responsibility of the TA will be to hold office hours and grade homework assignments. The TA will hold a recommended 1 hour of office hours per week, and 2 hours during weeks before exams, to help tutor students, answer student questions and go through problem solving and coding exercises. These hours may be increased or reduced based on student demand. The TA is expected to grade homework problem sets that will be assigned once every week, or once every two weeks. The instructor will provide guidance on the grading. Homework assignments must be graded promptly and returned to the instructor in two weeks.  The TA will also be required to meet with the instructor for approximately 30 minutes every week to go over the plans for the upcoming week.

The required qualifications are successful completion of Applied Linear Algebra, or an equivalent linear algebra course (e.g. MATH 230 from the USF Mathematics department or equivalent). Previous TA and/or tutoring experience in math is preferred. 

Compensation: $18.07/hr
