The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Systems Support Specialist for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).Under the supervision of a University Police Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain, the Systems Support Specialist is responsible for technical and specialized task associated with police aided platforms of the Rutgers University Police Department.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Responsible for overseeing, assessment, and planning of efficient processes in support of the infrastructures of the systems.
  • Provide collecting, editing, analyzing, and auditing all necessary user databases while interfacing with department sworn administrative staff.
  • Perform some administrative functions and assigned work consistent of management and usability of organizational data and information whiling having a broad understanding of the mission, vision, and goals of University Public Safety.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent technical education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced working knowledge of software, hardware, and operating systems commonly used
  • A clear understanding of the project management processes, strategies, and methods
  • Proven track record of successful platform development and deployment
  • Communication skills and candidate must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • General knowledge of graphic design and Adobe Acrobat, PDF design, Adobe Experience Manager
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing support and working within a police department or other law enforcement entity
  • New Jersey Driver’s License
Equipment Utilized
  • Law Enforcement Databases Systems
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The applicant must have the ability to function effectively and collaborate with other units.
