The Systems Engineering Programs began in 2008 and offers graduate-level degrees including a Master of Engineering (M.E.), a Master of Science (M.S.), a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), a Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.), and a graduate certification in Systems Engineering Practice. Systems Engineering gained full Department status in 2019. The Systems Engineering courses (and all degrees) are offered face-to-face and by distance delivery, synchronously and asynchronously, and may include lecture, seminar, and other distance education formats. Its culture is to embrace intellectual creativity at all levels, operating under the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and integrity. The department continues to grow with 36 associated faculty, 8 professional memberships, and a management forum including systems engineering leaders from Woodward, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Northrup Grumman Information Systems, Lockheed Martin, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), United Launch Alliance (ULA), Hewlett Packard (HP), Merrick & Company, Ball Aerospace and Technologies, Boeing Company, Western Digital, and more. Position Summary
The Department of Systems Engineering is currently one of the largest graduate programs at Colorado State University with over 300 master’s and doctoral students. In support of this growth, the Department invites applications for part-time (less than 50%) temporary Instructors.
Applications will be reviewed when a vacancy occurs and applicants will be contacted only if a suitable position becomes available. These positions will teach graduate courses in both in-person and online, in line with our department teaching model where online students can participate synchronously with the classroom lecture. Required Job Qualifications
• Applicants must hold a master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred) in Systems Engineering, Energy Systems, Model-based Systems Engineering, Design optimization, controls, and analytics, Project/program Management or in a field related to subjects taught by the Systems Engineering Department.
• Additional required qualifications and salary determined by the specific position to be filled
• The successful candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Systems Engineering will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.
Preferred Job Qualifications
• Teaching or Engineering experience beyond doctoral training in an academic, government, or industrial setting
• Experience in Systems Engineering, Model-based Systems Engineering, Design optimization, Controls, Analytics, Project Management, Program Management or a closely related field within the last three years.
• Exhibit the ability and interest to teach in a distance education environment
• Demonstrated action for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in an academic, industrial, or professional setting.
