Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The System Engineer II will work collaboratively with different teams and departments within USCB’s Information Technology Services and Support department to plan, design, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot complex institutional applications. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the entire management lifecycle for select institutional applications.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 4 years experience in computer systems development and modifications; or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to relational database SQL systems. Exposure to scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, PHP, or bash. Working knowledge of MacOS and Apple iOS or Android. Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, Office 365, and Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems. Experience with Microsoft and Linux server platforms. Experience with Shibboleth and Active Directory.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Advanced knowledge of information technology system analysis, design, testing and maintenance techniques. Advanced knowledge of computer or network hardware, software, operating systems, programming languages, or other information technology tools/resources. Ability to solve moderately complex problems and apply critical thinking skills to needs or problems, both individually and as part of a team. Ability to prepare status reports and moderately complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and staff members and other IT units. Ability to follow technical directions. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to flexibly manage multiple priorities and proactively address needs in a dynamic environment.
