Position Description

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is a community of Information Technology professionals committed to delivering service and technological solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and administration.  We are recruiting an IT workforce that has both breadth in their ability to collaborate and innovate across disciplines – and depth in specific areas of expertise. Plan and conduct comprehensive infrastructure engineering duties. Role may focus on one or more technical area. Perform expert level build, configuration, and maintenance across systems. Implement IT solutions to complex business problems. Provide expert level technical and project leadership. May manage and be a key contributor on multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Specific Duties

  • Be part of a fast-paced, security focused team supporting a broad range of exciting technologies including Active Directory, AzureAD, ADFS, PKI, MIM, along with various cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. 
  • Find innovative ways to support and enhance our service offerings using the latest technologies including advanced scripting and automation  
  • Collaborate with team members internally and across the University to share knowledge and troubleshoot and support shared platforms
  • Contribute to and maintain system build, configuration, and troubleshooting documentation
  • Occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours
  • Required to participate in regular 24/7 on-call rotation

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft core technologies including Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Experience managing cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor to both internal and external customers  

Certificates and Licenses

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus.

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.  HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business and team needs allow. Additional detail will be discussed during the interview process.  All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT).
