Position Summary

Reporting to the Lead Systems Engineer, the Systems Engineer’s primary duties involve administering Windows desktop systems using SCCM, packaging applications for system wide distribution, application testing, imaging, automated Windows security patching, Malware Bytes anti-virus administration and general tier 3 support of the desktop environment, and additionally management of desktop images and related security for lab and public computing environments.


Responsibilities

  • Provides on-going support of the system infrastructure, including automation, processes, hardware and software. 
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of upgrades and installations.
  • Monitors automated reports and/or responds to alerts for multiple hardware and software issues.
  • Fields queries from Academic Computing, Electronic Classrooms, Desktop Support, end users, developers, and operations staff regarding availability, performance or functionality problems.
  • Works with vendors and other CUIT staff to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Manages licensing for the academic computing environment and provides system administration for the licensing servers managed by CSS. 
  • Evaluates nascent technologies for potential integration into our infrastructure.
  • Weekend and off-hour work may be necessary on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ related experience.
  • 3+ years of Windows systems administration, scripting, and lab administration.
  • Extensive SCCM experience.
  • Application packaging and bare metal imaging (BMI). 
  • MS SQL experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with a wide array of diagnostic tools. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with a record of outstanding customer service.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including teamwork/collaboration, analytical thinking, communication and influencing skills, and technical expertise.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
  • Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work weekend and off-hour work on occasion.

  • Provisio Site Kiosk experience. 
  • Pharos Printing Solutions experience.
  • Windows Powershell Scripting experience. 
  • Microsoft Certified.
  • Intune experience and familiarity with update rings.
  • JAMF Certificated.
