Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Enterprise Systems Manager and a member of the Pacific Technology division, the Systems Administrator I is responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining computing equipment and services. Management of servers in support of business and academic processing requirements is an essential requirement of this position. This position will support of university-wide applications and integrations, and assist with auditing server security and implementing upgrades as necessary to meet University security policies and procedures. Work with existing staff to implement and troubleshoot systems to meet the university mission.
Essential Functions
Server Management/Systems Administration:
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and application packages.
  • Maintenance and support of medical and other software systems such as Epic, Point N Click, Maxient, RIMS, Titanium, Pathify, and Accessible Information Systems.
  • Top Level OU Management, Groups and GPO
  • Develop and modify scripts, tools, integrations or widgets using PowerShell or other scripting language to automate processes.
  • Develop and create reports for tracking and logging within the systems.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum levels of performance.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.

Technical Project Management:
  • Research and recommends enterprise systems and services utilizing commercial and open-source tools.
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
  • Researches and proposes improvement to the academic and business systems for the University.
  • Fosters collaborative support among administrators of servers and coordinates/documents problem resolutions.
  • Troubleshoots service failures to university computing systems with root cause analysis and implements solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • 60+ credit hours of post-secondary education in a related field.
  • One (1) year experience in system administration.
  • One (1) year experience with any of the following technologies: Windows servers, Medical systems or application management, server virtualization, and identity and access management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer related field.
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot servers in a multi-vendor environment with limited supervision.
  • Ability to comfortably discuss computing topics with varying levels of personnel from student to CIO.
  • Ability to provide solutions to integrate various disparate systems into a single service offering using existing knowledge and research.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management best practices.
  • Must be capable of prioritizing and meeting deadlines for wide-ranging technical projects.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Remote flexibility options are available as requested. Work performed during standard business hours; additional time may be required to meet business deadlines.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for university business. The University’s insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $25.87 - $34.28 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
