General Responsibilities

  • To collaborate with project stakeholders to define and analyze software requirements for department.
  • To evaluate and suggest suitability of software and effective platforms.
  • To develop (design, code, test) custom applications and support (enhance, upgrade, debug) existing applications.
  • To support departments research platforms and provide holistic support (REDCap, Qualtrics, and in-house built applications).
  • To collaborate with investigators to develop research projects into REDCap.
  • To have an in-depth understanding of different technologies such as Joomla, SharePoint, Kaltura to work on various departmental projects.
  • To be knowledgeable in Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), IRB and data security regulations as typically mandated by projects and grants.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sets roadmap and provides expert guidance as a Tech/Unit Lead.
  • Oversees Research Core projects from conception to completion.
  • Actively collaborate with Analytics Core Administer DOM REDCap data management systems (design, develop new research databases).
  • Assists with analytical and data visualization (Tableau) projects.
  • Creates and supports custom database-integrated web applications.
  • Explores innovative ideas for REDCap and custom applications.
  • Administers DOM REDCap data management systems - designs and develops new research databases: This responsibility involves managing and overseeing data management systems, which often include sensitive research data. Ensuring the security and integrity of these systems is a key aspect of cybersecurity.
  • Explores innovative ideas for REDCap and custom applications: Exploring innovative ideas likely includes considering security enhancements to existing systems or researching new security technologies or practices.
  • Assists with analytical and data visualization (Tableau) projects: Data analysis and visualization often involve handling and presenting data securely. Understanding data security principles is crucial to protect sensitive information.
  • Creates and supports custom database integrated web applications: Developing and maintaining web applications require a strong understanding of secure coding practices to prevent vulnerabilities and data breaches.
  • Explores innovative ideas for REDCap and custom applications: Exploring innovative ideas likely includes considering security enhancements to existing systems or researching new security technologies or practices.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments on systems and applications to identify and mitigate security risks proactively.
  • Explores innovative ideas for REDCap and custom applications: Exploring innovative ideas likely includes considering security enhancements to existing systems or researching new security technologies or practices.
  • Manage user access and permissions for data systems, ensuring only authorized personnel have access to sensitive data.
  • Continuously assess and prioritize security risks, and develop strategies to address them effectively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range - $77,640 - $126,170

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
