Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator for Institutional Planning and Operations (IP&O). The System Administrator reports to the Assistant Director of Information Technology and is responsible for leveraging endpoint management solutions to provision, deploy, update, secure and troubleshoot end-user devices; including using Active Directory Domain Services to manage and enforce security policies at managed desktops, KACE Systems Management to roll out software and manage security updates at workstations, and Cisco AMP for Endpoints to address malware threats, among others.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages desktop encryption and maintains Windows departmental images, including the deployment of new Windows 10 versions and rolling out new features.
  • Other responsibilities include: Managing Windows servers, providing second-level end-user support, working on special projects and writing and updating documentation as needed.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as Administrator of Windows Server environments that include Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 and Windows 2019.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • SME level of experience managing Microsoft’s AD DS, DNS Server, File and Print Services, DFSR, IIS, Remote Access Server and Windows Server Update Services.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills.
  • SME level experience managing endpoint management solutions such as KACE Systems Management, Microsoft System Center, or Microsoft Intune Mobile Device Management.
  • Extensive experience creating, mantaining and deploying Windows 10 images through the use of Microsoft native tools such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or Dell’s ImageAssist.
  • Experience with Center for Internet Security tools (CIS CSAT Pro, and CIS CAT Pro)
  • Knowledge of SolarWinds’ Orion Platform is preferred, including products such as NPM, SAM and NTM
  • Ability to understand complex networks and system architectures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MCSE 2012 and MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification preferred.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert preferred.
