Job Description

Provides planning and implementation of water safety program, oversight of front desk, sales, and customer relations. Assists in the development of training and development for Water Safety Instructors, Cashiers, and Lifeguards.  Provides oversight of Water Safety Instructors, Cashiers and Lifeguards.  Provides additional education and safety classes utilizing the American Red Cross aquatics program and provides general support to the Aquatics Coordinator.

 

Duties will include but are not limited to - 

  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee the total operations of the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex including full-time, part-time, and student staff, facility use scheduling, and administer aquatic programs to meet the needs of campus and the community.
  • Facilitate and coordinate employment, hiring, training and development of employees to provide safe and efficient operation of all aquatic facilities.
  • Oversee and approve weekly payroll for all aquatic employees.
  • Supervise and ensure proper financial processes in collection of aquatic fees, revenue reporting, daily deposits, invoicing, collections, and payments for supplies. 
  • Investigate and respond to calls, requests and complaints from members, ensuring proper incident reporting procedures and follow up.
  • Supervise daily maintenance and cleaning of aquatic facility.  Prepare work orders for maintenance needs and provide information through Online purchasing system for supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee chemical balancing side of pool operations and assist Facilities Management with mechanical side of pool operations. 
  • Recommend/oversee programs, program updates, policies, procedures and initiate their planning and implementation. 
  • Facilitate American Red Cross program training for student staff as well as the community.
  • Develop and maintain budgetary information regarding all aspects of the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex including but not limited to annual facility operations numbers, student staff labor costs, rentals, and any other information as requested.
  • Complete tasks associated with the successful operation of an aquatic center, to include other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree. 
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.


Skills:


  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Familiarity with computers, knowledge of computer software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently, problem solve

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to lead, direct employees, and make decisions

Certifications:


  • Valid driver's license

  • Must be able to swim.
  • Surface dive to a depth of between nine and thirteen feet of water to retrieve a ten-pound brick and exit the pool unassisted without using the ladder.
  • Vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.  
  • Be able to endure all weather conditions including hot, wet, and humid conditions both indoors and outdoors.

Department Preferences:

  • Master's degree preferred
  • American Red Cross - Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Aquatic Facility Operator and Certified Pool Operator
  • American Red Cross - Lifeguard Instructor Trainer
  • American Red Cross - Water Safety Instructor Trainer 
  • Lifeguard, or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire
  • First Aid, or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire
  • CPR, or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire 
  • AED, or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire
