Description of Work Unit
CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU. CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.
Position Summary
A Sustainable Range Program (SRP) GIS Coordinator position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned to the U.S. Army National Guard Readiness Center, Arlington, VA.
Required Job Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree in geography or environmental science/health or closely related field, including Geographic Information System (GIS) coursework.
  • At least 5 years of relevant GIS work experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ESRI GIS products, specifically ArcPro 2.9.x or higher.
  • Working knowledge of Army GIS data standards, SDS-FIE (Spatial Data Standards for Facilities Infrastructure and Environment).
  • Demonstrated skill in using the Range Managers Toolkit and its related tools.
  • Knowledge of the Army Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) and the RFMSS Enhanced Graphic FireDesktop (EGFD).
  • Experience creating and reviewing Surface Danger Zones (SDZs) and certification from the Level 2 Range Safety Course or Inter-Service Range Safety Course (Intermediate).
  • Familiarity with the Range Complex Master Plan (RCMP) process and its GIS/Mapping requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working with hierarchical organizations such as federal, state agencies and the military.
  • Familiarity with the Army Sustainable Range Program.
  • PGIS or MS/MA in GIS or closely related field
  • Excellent written, oral, and technical communication skills.

  • Provide GIS analysis and technical support for the Training Support Branch, Army Training Division of the National Guard Bureau (NGB). 
  • Coordinate with Army National Guard (ARNG) Training Centers for the collection, development, and review of Sustainable Range Program (SRP) GIS data and products. 
  • Review Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Workplans for State GIS products and services requirements. 
  • Develop and integrate geospatial data in support of Division program needs and integrate data across platforms with other offices. 
  • Ensure consistency and compatibility of GIS data within the NGB network using client/server, and web enabled/based intra/inter/extranet platforms.
