The Weekend Program offers a weekend only shift schedule with enhanced compensation.
The Weekend Program is a 12 month commitment to work 48 scheduled weekends in a 12 month period beginning with first shift worked. Travel allowance is available for eligible employees travelling greater than 75 miles one way.

Shift Schedules for Full Time .90 FTE
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- 12 hour shifts
- 36 hrs per week, 52 weeks per yr, 1872 hrs per yr
- 48 scheduled weekends must be worked in 12 month period
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to gathering needed supplies and instrumentation for surgical procedures according to the surgeon preference card. Maintains the sterile field and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. Is constantly vigilant to the adherence of aseptic technique by all team members.

  • Differentiates between sterile and unsterile items processed by various sterilization methods.
  • Demonstrates a basic level of surgical case preparation by reviewing the surgeon preference card and case cart, gathering surgical instruments, supplies and equipment needed for general surgical procedures.
  • Provides safe patient care at a basic level.
  • Demonstrates principles of aseptic technique and sterile conscience.
  • Has basic knowledge of surgical procedures and patient anatomy.
  • Demonstrates awareness of environmental safety practices for patient, self and team at all times.
  • Able to take specialty certification exam upon completion of accredited surgical technology program.
Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from accredited Surgical Technologist Training Program.

Experience: No experience required

Licensure: BLS required. Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets.  Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull >50 - 100lbs.   May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
