The University of South Carolina has an opening for its Supplemental Instruction Manager position in the Student Success Center (SSC). The Supplemental Instruction Manager will support, manage and provide leadership for a team of Supplemental Instruction Leaders who (1) conduct course-specific support for undergraduate students and (2) promote positive academic decision making and skill development via the facilitation of self-regulated learning techniques. The Supplemental Instruction Manager oversees the Student Success Center’s course-specific finals support initiatives.
The Supplemental Instruction Manager is a highly collaborative position that plays a critical role in advancing student learning, retention and degree completion.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate Supplemental Instruction Program
2. Develop marketing and relationships for the program
3. Peer Leader Program recruitment
4. Leadership and management of the Peer leader program

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Some night and weekend work may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or Counseling. Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience coordination and assessing student or academic programs in a higher education setting, preferably including supervisory experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The individual must be able to exercise excellent professional judgement and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the institution. Knowledge of academic success programs and student development theory is necessary. Ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines and coordinate the efforts of multiple areas is essential.

  • Coordinate the Supplemental Instruction Program, including but not limited to recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating Peer Leaders that provide Supplemental Instruction to undergraduate students.
  • Will supervise 1 or more Graduate Assistants to support programmatic area.

Collaborates with key stakeholders internal and external to the university to identify and provide support to undergraduate students. Includes developing collaborative relationships with participating faculty, academic departments and other programmatic areas of the SSC.
