The Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is recruiting a 2nd shift Veterinary Care Technician Manager/Supervisor for its Urgent Care facility located in Dublin, Ohio. This position provides high level patient care in a fast-paced, high patient load, 7 day/week, 365-day/year veterinary practice facility. Urgent Care Technicians focus on assisting faculty with assessment, treatment, and procedures related to quality patient care. The position requires detailed knowledge of biological parameters and value interpretation, ICU protocols, restraint techniques, ability to triage and take action in emergent situations as well as the ability to acquire vitals and monitoring hospitalized patients for changing needs. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, administration, other technicians, and faculty. Should possess lab skills including working knowledge of lab equipment and protocols. Must be able to accurately track patient progress and keep proper documentation as well as effectively learn and use electronic medical record program. Shifts may require use of anesthesia and radiological machines. Position responsible for maintaining clean and efficient work areas and performing end-of-shift duties which may include dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, and trash removal. Technicians are expected to mentor and train new employees and participate in regular continuing education to maintain required state licensing.  In addition to all the duties of a Veterinary Care Technicians, the supervisor also coordinates a team of Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistant and student employees including department schedules, recruitment, onboarding, training, conflict management, performance evaluations and other HR functions and managerial duties as assigned. Required: Graduate of an AVMA accredited school; current active Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board (OVMLB) Registered Veterinary Technicians license/registration or able to obtain registration prior to start date and completion of a successful background check

Hiring Range: $32.55 - $43.41/hour. This position is eligible for shift differential up to an additional $2.50 per hour plus 11 paid holidays.


Additional Information:

Physical Requirements: lifting 40-50 pounds; Long periods of standing and/or sitting or kneeling on the floor. Extensive typing and computer work. Risks involve exposure to animal dander, rabies, other zoonotic diseases, parasiticides, animal inflicted injuries, anesthetic gases, chemotherapy, gamma ray equipment, irritant chemicals
