POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
The Native American Center at Butte College supports self-identified Native American students. This department ensures Native American educational success, develops leaders, and increases the number of mentors to empower future generations.
The Supervisor, Retention Specialist for the Native American Center develops, implements and evaluates activities designed to increase student retention, persistence and completion for the Native American student population at Butte College. The Supervisor provides guidance and support for students who need assistance staying on track for degree completion. They help enhance student success by offering various programs and services that include personal coaching, on-going support and follow-up; developmental workshops, degree progress consultations and referrals to other on-and off-campus resources. They provide direct supervision to assigned departmental staff and student employees within the Native American Center.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Over the summer the schedule changes to Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Friday off.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment.   • Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he or she is free of active tuberculosis.
