Supervisor, Patient Accounts Healthcare

Job Summary:

Oversees all functions of the inpatient and/or outpatient accounting office and a staff of credit, collection, insurance, and billing clerks.

 

Job Duties:

  • Monitors Patient Payment Plans to ensure the plans are within the institution's guidelines.
  • Trains, monitors and manages customer services staff members in handling patient questions regarding their bills.
  • Meets with patients face-to-face as necessary and ensures patient concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates activities and schedules work assignments to meet rigid billing deadlines; may spend time performing many of the same duties as subordinate employees; acts as point of contact for vendors.
  • Provides guidance and instruction in the interpretation of department policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Initiates and implements improvements to billing systems within the confines of federal and state collection laws.
  • Attends monthly meetings and presents analysis reports.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree is required.  Will accept experience in lieu of degree.

     

    Experience:

    Two (2) years of experience in clinical setting or healthcare environment is required.

     

    Supervisory Requirements:

    Has the authority to direct the work of others, hire or fire employees, or provide recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employee.
