Position Summary

The Instructional Support Supervisor is responsible for instructional support services for Academic Directors, faculty, and students and serves as a resource and point-person for all programs. The Instructional Support Supervisor will manage the Instructional Support Specialists to ensure that operational services are delivered in an efficient manner. The Instructional Support Supervisor will also perform other relevant duties and participate in related projects as needed. Hours will vary and likely include evening and weekend hours, particularly during the start and end of each semester.

**This position's hours are from 11:00am - 7:00pm**


Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Instructional Support Specialists and ensure that all logistical requests are handled in a timely manner (i.e. requests for scheduling, classroom resources, on-site support and other operational services)
  • Supervise the successful implementation of block weeks, residencies, capstones, Proseminars, student round tables, lectures, and all curriculum and skill based workshops for 14+ programs.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing data analytics and reporting for the school wide e-portfolio initiative (electronic repository of student work and faculty assessment) for multiple programs.
  • Assist the Instructional Support Manager in creating long term strategic plans as they relate to Academic events. Liaise across departments and schools at Columbia University to cultivate relationships to create long term strategic plans for future events.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Support leadership to support the successful delivery of Academic resources including providing oversight to proctoring exams, ensuring classroom needs are met, course reserves are on file.
  • Monitor and ensure a timely turn around for requests through Zendesk
  • Assist with the analysis and reporting of Zendesk data
  • In partnership with both the Academic Directors and Instructional Support Manager, support the execution of all programmatic events and ensure that the Instructional Support Specialists meet all needs for space reservations, ordering, and food set up.
  • Attend evening and weekend events for program promotion, capstones, lectures, and other events in both a supervisory and support capacity. Oversee the Instructional Support Specialists in their work to ensure that courses are maintained and mandated information (i.e. appropriate textbook information, syllabi, etc.) is updated.
  • Oversee the process by which new courses are added to the existing course curriculum by the Instructional Support Specialist. Taking information from CPS and uploading into the DOC and ensuring that all course materials are prepared by the Instructional Support Specialist.
  • Review and approve all Academic Program specific communications through Canvas sent by the Instructional Support team to students for course related issues.
  • Oversee the onboarding and training process for ISS in creating e-handbooks that address the full scope of responsibilities for the IS team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and/or its equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Experience working with faculty and staff in higher education

  • Experience with room scheduling software, student information systems, helpdesk, and/or project management software

  • Experience with learning management systems

  • Knowledge of hybrid, online learning modalities


Other Requirements

  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Adobe Acrobat and e-mail software required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as the initiative and ability to start and complete projects with minimum direction necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent service to all stakeholders.
  • Experience with database management
  • Ability to read, comprehend, analyze and interpret concepts, documents, and data
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Must have strong managerial and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Willingness to learn SIS and Desktop Reports as well as other University applications
