Job Description

Facilities Development and Management, FM Residential Life, seeks a Supervisor to manage the Residential Warehouse Property Control department including but not limited to the maintenance of the residence hall interior/exterior furniture and miscellaneous equipment inventories, relocation of furniture and minor repairs, mattress inventories/ordering and departmental fleet vehicle/cart maintenance/management.

Essential Duties

Coordinate and lead the activities and functions of the residential warehouse team. Responsible for the sourcing and procurement of maintenance parts, supplies, tools, furniture, and appliances supporting the student residence halls. Responsible for furniture and asset management in the residence halls; to include staging of furniture, repairs of furniture, office/room moves, delivery and installation of furniture. The supervisor must implement internal controls to manage the inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, furniture, and appliances. Responsible for the management of fleet vehicle maintenance for cars, trucks, golf carts, and aerial lift equipment. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned professional, paraprofessional, and temporary staff. Develop, prepare, monitor, and track department goals and objectives. Responsible for customer service relationships with students, staff, and other department representatives. Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors campus department representatives. Participate in on-call rotation to manage after-hours facilities service and emergency response. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years of related experience, which includes one year of supervisory experience; OR,Eight years of related experience, which includes one year of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Experience in:

  • organizing and leading work activities of teams
  • sourcing and procurement of maintenance parts, supplies, and materials
  • sourcing and procurement of furniture
  • assembly moving and staging of furniture
  • asset and inventory management
  • event management (set ups and tear downs)
  • on-call after hours emergency response
  • the management of fleet vehicles (e.g. maintaining maintenance records, cleaning, and inspecting)
  • customer service
  • developing partnerships with vendors and inter-organizational personnel
  • using computers (e.g. MS Office, inventory management database programs, work order systems, etc.)

•    Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills


Working Environment

Lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and through electronic devices to perform the essential functions.  Use of standard office equipment (computer workstation/laptop, printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals).  Wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves). Work with team members, prioritize assignments, and work within guidelines.  Drive University vehicles. Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.

Facilities Development and Management at ASU employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States.  Facilities Development and Management will not be a sponsor for this position.

This position is located at the Residential Life Warehouse, 1601 S. McAllister, Tempe, AZ.

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's (minimum of Class D) license upon employment and maintain throughout employment.  A Department of Motor Vehicle search will be conducted.  Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment.

This position is dependent on the continuation of funding from a specific source other than state appropriations.  As such, this appointment may terminate when the funding is no longer available.

This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of all background, including fingerprint checks.
