Position Summary
The position is responsible for providing clinical assistance and supervision of clinical operations staff in an effective and efficient manner to ensure quality care is provided and department clinical expectations are met for the Neurology clinic located at the McMillan (MCM) LL clinic. Demonstrates a high commitment to excellence in service and quality through interactions with team members, Neurology faculty, staff, referring physicians, patients and their families while focusing on service culture and continuously striving to align with the Department of Neurology's mission and vision.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors and coordinates daily patient care activities of the unit. Schedules staff to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times to ensure effective patient services. Manages daily staff assignments to ensure clinic coverage and flow. Covers staff during lunch time, vacations, and illness. Collaborates on monitoring section scheduling activities. Leads daily huddle.
  • Leads and guides employees performing related work. Oversees quality assurance activities and compliance with operational standards. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Participates in employees' performance evaluations, orient new staff, and provide continued education, in-service, and training for employees.
  • Collaborates with the Practice Office Manager on maintaining clinical and staff policies and procedures. Participates in hiring process (conducts interviews for potential new employees).
  • Participates in section meetings, projects, assignments, and educational activities. Back up coverage for Practice Office Manager during vacation, meetings, or trainings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrates effective interactive communication skills with ability to work with physicians, patients, families, significant others, and support staff.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, and telephone skills, working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of medical terminology, and demonstrated knowledge/experience working with electronic medical records.


Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with five years of related experience; if order entry in the electronic medical record is part of the job’s responsibilities, Registered/Certified Medical Assistant or successfully achieve Medical Assistant registration/certification or pass assessment-based recognition (ABR) exam within six months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager.

Salary Range
$50,600.00 - $75,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
