Summary:
Under the direction of the Summer Program Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA, the Educator will create this course of study, prepare materials, and deliver an excellent summer Theater Educator enrichment course for Geffen Academy's Summer Program students. The Educator will teach two course, two sections total. One course will be an introduction to theater for students entering grade 5 (45 minutes) over a 3-week period. The second course will be 90 minutes in length and designed for students entering grades 6-12 over a three (3) week period. The course will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy's campus.
Job Duties:

  • Consistent with Geffen Academy's goals participate in the design and development of curricula that develops a persistent inquirers mindset in the Geffen Academy's students. This course should cover basic rules and techniques used in various styles of acting including, acting, directing, stage management, storytelling, improv, breathing techniques, and writing.
  • Create a learning environment where students feel safe, welcome, and challenged.
  • Consistent with department leadership's direction, collaborate with other educators in creation of the Geffen Academy program that meets the need and interests of the Geffen Academy's students.
  • Be available to students and parents for any and all department related issues.
