Job Description:
As a student assistant, you serve as the first point of contact with our diverse array of students, families, faculty, and other visitors. As an employee of this office, you are part of a vital team that works to support and enhance the experiences of students of the University of Florida. As such we expect you to be professional with every interaction you have.
 

Hours available are between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.


 
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Receptionist and first point of contact for the Office of the Vice President for Student Life.
  • Greeting and assisting visitors and guests entering the suite with a pleasant demeanor.
  • Answer all phone calls that come into the office and direct them to the correct area or person.
  • Assist staff with a variety of administrative needs including event preparation, emailing, errands, and other tasks as requested.
  • Maintain a professional business demeanor and wear suitable office attire.
  • Keep the main office area and kitchen clean (supply management, cleaning front office areas and kitchen, etc.)
  • Use critical thinking skills and resources to assist with questions and requests. 
Expected Salary:

12.00

Minimum Requirements:
  • Be registered in a UF degree-seeking program for at least half time.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University with no repeated violations of the University Code of Student Conduct.
  • This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient with verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • The ability to work independently 
  • Demonstrate professional etiquette in the office, on the phone, and in person
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills
  • Treat your job, supervisor, coworkers, and guests with the same behavior, dress, communication, discretion, and courtesy that you would an internship or full-time job
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to professionalism, dependability, and timeliness
