Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures is committed to research and teaching at all levels in German, Russian and several other Germanic, Central European, and Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. One of the most vibrant departments of its kind in the nation, GSLL is closely linked with interdisciplinary centers including the UNC Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies, and with the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies. We are also home to the Carolina-Duke Graduate Program in German Studies, one of the country’s leading graduate programs in German.
Position Summary
Teaching Assistant Professor in Russian. The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (http://gsll.unc.edu/) is seeking a superior and innovative instructor to teach an introductory Russian language course (RUSS 102) in Summer Session II (June 26-August 1). This is a fixed-term, non-renewable, position.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
An M.A. (or foreign equivalent) in Slavic languages and literatures or closely related field is required, by June 1, 2023. Candidates are expected to have familiarity with communicative methods and technologies used in teaching the Russian language at the college level. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English required.
