Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for Lecturer in the Athletic Training program. This is a part-time, term teaching position for the summer 2021 academic semester.

Successful candidates will have experience that demonstrates ability, potential, and commitment to higher education instruction. This position will be responsible for teaching in the area of general medical and behavioral health issues.

Candidates are expected to share our commitment to achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion. All faculty members are expected to interact in a collegial manner and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher in athletic training or related discipline.  


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as either clinician or instructor in one or more of the following areas: General medical, and behavioral health.

Experience working with health care professionals.

Demonstrated experience utilizing educational and CAATE programmatic standards.

Proven ability to work with diverse populations.


Department/Program & College Description:

The Department of Kinesiology is one of five academic units in the College of Human Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The department has approximately 1,200 undergraduate and 40 graduate students, making it one of the largest academic departments at Iowa State. Department laboratories are well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Faculty research and teaching interests address biomechanical, neuromotor, pedagogical, physiological, epidemiological, and psychological perspectives of human movement, physical activity, and health. Department faculty and staff have a high level of collegiality and a strong commitment to students. The department’s CAATE accredited athletic training program has transitioned to a professional Master’s degree program. The Iowa State athletic training program combines diverse and well-rounded clinical experience rotations with a robust curriculum to provide students the most up to date information in the classroom combined with hands-on clinical opportunities.
