Title Summer Footbridge Program Assistant
Position Description
The FootBridge Partnership is an initiative facilitated by Bridgewater State University, to provide academic and enrichment activities for students enrolled in grades 4 and 5 from Brockton.
Program Assistants will perform leadership and mentoring duties to support an array of enrichment activities both on and off-campus. They include supervising the movement of student teams to classes, various activity locations, and meals in the dining facility; the facilitation of activities such as, games, physical exercise, and other fun-filled events. Throughout, they will serve as mentors to the Brockton school students whenever necessary.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Assistant Director of Education & Health Sciences Outreach, College of Education and Health Sciences
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Participating Brockton school students
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with BSU faculty members and Brockton school teachers to directly supervise the activities of students.
  • Ensure the safety of those students during all activities and movement to various locations.
  • Lead a variety of events such as games, club meetings and other planned activities.
  • Accompany students on off-campus field trips.
  • Mentor students whenever necessary.
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times.
  • Perform any other duties necessary to ensure that the program operates effectively.

Please note: This is a two-week program running from July 8-19, 2024. Students must be available from 9 am to 3:00 pm.
Preferred Qualifications
•Current full-time enrollment, in good standing, at Bridgewater State University.
•The physical ability to lead activities and accompany student groups to various locations on and off campus.
•Verifiably excellent communication skills.
•Experience running student-centered programs.
•Ability to understand and be responsive to the needs and concerns of ethnically diverse students, underrepresented populations, individuals with disabilities, and others.

Walking long distances (across campus and on field trip)
