Summary:
Under the direction of the Summer Program Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA, the Educator will create this course of study, prepare materials, and deliver an excellent summer Ceramics Educator enrichment course for Geffen Academy's Summer Program students. The Educator will teach two courses, 2 sections (total); one course designed for students entering grade 5 (two sections, 45 minutes) and a second course (one sections, 90 minutes each) designed for students entering grades 6-12. The classes are 45/90 minutes long, over a three (3) week period. The course will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy's campus.
Job Duties:

  • Consistent with the department's goals participate in the design and development of curricula that develops a creative and innovative mindset and joy.
  • Build a creative program for secondary school students in areas such as, but not limited to: creative thinking, meta cognition, 3D art, and ceramics.
  • Support students in a dynamic process of project planning and execution of created curriculum, including hands-on opportunities for students to express themselves through multiple mediums and modalities.
  • Create a learning environment where students feel safe, welcome, and challenged.
  • Consistent with department leadership's direction, collaborate with other educators in creation of the Geffen Academy program that meets the need and interests of the Geffen Academy's students.
  • Be available to students and parents for any and all department related issues.
