Bryant Pond currently has over 1,300 feet of water frontage covering from the main lake into a wind protected cove. With this much space and multiple water-related activities, including canoeing, paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming and an aqua zipline, finding the right Waterfront Coordinator is a large priority to the success of this 4-H camp. This role requires high enthusiasm for working with children of various ages with a strong dedication to safety and fun. Each week, we welcome 70-100 campers who look forward to time in and on the water.


 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Directors with waterfront operations and management
  • Lifeguard during swim time for each group every day
  • Create lifeguard schedules and provide/assist lifeguards with in-service training
  • Supervise campers and ensure safety and risk management policies are followed. 
  • Plan lessons, lead activities, mentor campers, and provide opportunities for campers to learn and explore the outdoors through high-quality experiences. 
  • Perform camp chores that benefit the greater community. 
  • Attend staff meetings and debriefs as scheduled. 
  • Provide basic first aid as needed 
  • Live in cabins and supervise campers

Schedule and Compensation:

  • Sunday through Thursday 
  • Sunday 10:00 a.m.-Friday 2 p.m. unless otherwise scheduled 
  • 8 weeks of camp programs plus 1 week of staff training *LG, TLT, or WFA may be scheduled at other times. 
  • Room and Board are included. 
  • Lifeguards will be trained as required

Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center is located in Bryant Pond, Maine is nestled on the shores of Lake Christopher with 160 acres of forest and mountain trails leading to remote campsites, streams, ponds, wetlands, and a mountain summit.  A short drive from the Campus you can be in the beautiful White Mountain National Forest or the Rangeley Lakes area. The local area provides many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts including rock climbing, backpacking, hunting and fishing, canoeing, and a large winter ski and sport industry. Portland, Maine’s largest city is only an hour’s drive with live music, great food, and shopping.



  • Have current Waterfront Lifeguard certification or have held this certification in the past and are willing to obtain again (training may be available)
  • Previous camp experience or working with youth preferred 
  • Must have a desire to work with various age groups 
  • Must be a positive role model 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Interest or background in the outdoors: hiking, nature, hunting, fishing, canoeing, etc. 
  • Willing to live and work in a community setting with changing program needs and focuses. 
  • Attend a week-long staff training at Bryant Pond prior to the start of camp.
