Job Description

A camp instructor will provide inquiry-based, product-oriented instruction for the campers' knowledge, understanding and application of Science, Technology, Engineering. and Mathematics (STEM) content/concepts, study skills. thinking skills, problem solving strategies and communication skills.

  • Works collaboratively with appropriate camp staff on the content of the instructional program and related activities.
  • Provide a teaching plan or class outline with handouts, for assigned classes.
  • Works closely, cooperatively and amicably with other staff members.
  • Stimulates campers' interest in individual and group activities.
  • Provides a safe learning environment to motivate youth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must participate in training workshop prior to the start of camp.
 

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor's degree. Some classroom teaching experience.


 

Skills:


  • Experience working with youth ages 6-16

  • Patient, enthusiastic, and dependable

  • Able to work with others and follow directions

Certifications:


  • Valid driver's license

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in recreational activities, ability to grasp objects, and assist students in minor physical activity.

Department Preferences:

  • One of the following credentials: A teaching certificate (minimum of three years of teaching); equivalent combination of training and experience; a continuing certificate for teaching grades 6-8; or a graduate student working on a degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience with youth summer camps.
