General Description | This is a temporary five-week position with the GEAR UP Summer College at the University of Montevallo. Summer College serves rising high school juniors as an academic summer term where students have a college-like experience as high school students, with support, activities, and supervision appropriate for high school youth. The Hall Director is responsible for supervising RA staff and providing leadership for the residence life experience of our scholars. |

Additional Duties | Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned. The individual holding this position will serve as a representative of the University and, as such, shall promote a positive impression by demonstrating a collegial and professional customer-service approach at all times. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | •Ability to connect with both youth and adults; An understanding of youth development; •Excellent written and oral communication skills; •Superior organizational skills; •Demonstrated ability to create complex activity schedules for students and staff •Ability to work in a high energy residence hall, college campus and team environment. •Group development and management; •Excellent interpersonal skills; •Ability to motivate students and staff; •Ability to react appropriately and provide leadership in crisis situations •Adaptability is a key component of a residential program for high school age students |
Education and Experience | Teaching experience or experience leading youth in summer camp programs is required. |
Licenses, Certification or Registrations | Driver’s license preferred, ability to pass background checks, current first aid/cpr |
