General Description
This is a temporary five-week position with the GEAR UP Summer College at the University of Montevallo. Summer College serves rising high school juniors as an academic summer term where students have a college-like experience as high school students, with support, activities, and supervision appropriate for high school youth. The Hall Director is responsible for supervising RA staff and providing leadership for the residence life experience of our scholars.
Essential Job Duties
  • Provide daily supervision to the students and staff in the assigned residence hall.
  • Maintain residence hall and ensure safety and security of residents. Supervise the students in cleaning of rooms and common areas, safe and responsible residence hall usage.
  • Ensure a welcoming environment for all scholars.
  • Create and maintain a student/staff technology checkout process, using Google Sheets
  • Ensure that students follow check-in/check-out guidelines as established by the student handbook
  • Ensure the residence hall is stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Create and supervise a student cleaning schedule for maintaining residence halls.
  • Play an integral role in creating a “warm-welcome” for students.
  • Assist with implementation of the residential program.
  • Supervise and participate in program activities with the students. Maintain discipline during activities on and off campus and in the residence halls.
  • Serve on the Leadership Team for GEAR UP Summer College at UM and attend scheduled leadership meetings.
  • Complete routine activities as assigned, including but not limited to administrative activities

    •Adaptability is a key component of a residential program for high school age students
    Education and Experience
    Teaching experience or experience leading youth in summer camp programs is required.

    Driver’s license preferred, ability to pass background checks, current first aid/cpr
