Summer Applied Biotechnology Research Experience

The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Institute for Collaborative Biotechnologies (ICB) offers a 10 week summer research internship for masters science and engineering majors from under-represented groups. Trainees will gain first-hand experience in scientific investigation in a dynamic, collaborative research environment. They will be matched individually with UCSB faculty who will provide training and support. In addition to research, trainees will participate in weekly group meetings to develop oral presentation skills, attend special seminars, and present their results at an end-of-the-summer poster session.


HOW MUCH?

$4,000

Total stipend of $4,000 for 10 weeks with travel costs up to $600. Housing and meals provided.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

Must be a science, engineering, and/or mathematics masters student. Must be from an underrepresented group (Blacks/African Americans, Native Americans/Alaskans, Pacific Islanders, and Latinos/Latinas). Must have a B average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Statement of interest. Copy of unofficial transcript. One letter of recommendation.
