Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision, of the Study Abroad and Exchange (SAE) Coordinator, the Study Abroad and Exchange Advisor performs moderately complex professional student services work in the Office of International Education and Global Engagement (IEGE). The Study Abroad and Exchange Advisor communicates and collaborates daily with prospective, current and past study abroad (and away) participants, as well as performs as the lead advisor with affiliate Study Abroad program providers. Assignments typically include a wide variety of professional student services and program activities including, but not limited to, advising students in individual and group settings, student recruitment, program outreach and student support services.

Mandatory Vaccinations:

The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption.  Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Bilingual.
  • Personal experience studying or living overseas.
  • Minimum one-year experience in a study abroad or international education office.
  • Experience using a variety of data management systems, CRM and social media applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Terra Dotta, etc.).
  • Effective oral and written communication in two or more languages.
  • Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND
Two years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

* A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm

Salary and Benefits Information:

$4,304 - $6,120 per month / $51,648 - $73,440 annually (New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning of the salary range)

Additional Information:

The person holding this position is considered a “General Mandated Reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.
