Job Description

The Videographer for the ASUN Center for Student Engagement creates promotional and marketing videos for the Associated Students of the University of Nevada. The Videographer is part of the Inkblot Marketing department in ASUN. Inkblot is the primary marketing department for all ASUN services and events. The goal is to show the undergraduate students of the University of Nevada, Reno the services and events ASUN offers for its students. You are required to attend ASUN events (some go as late at 12am) to create promotional material. Videos are promoted on social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

Create Videos: 90%

• Attend ASUN events to get video coverage for promotion of current and future events.

• Update the ASUN YouTube page.

  • Set goals for the YouTube page and review those goals every semester.
     

• Create and update ASUN related videos. They can be informational, humorous, highlight videos or anything that is relevant to ASUN.

• Create at least one finished video per month.

• Use Basecamp to update Inkblot on where videos are and to check if any work orders require video assistance.

• Before filming or animating, storyboard the video and present it to the Director.

• Utilize more than one method of filming per semester to keep content interesting (stop-motion, POV, animation, etc.).

• Keep track of the video equipment and write it down when something is checked out.

• Utilize downtime to brainstorm ways video could be better used to help promote ASUN.

• Keep a running list of potential video ideas to explore. (could be based on underrepresented clubs, services, programs, or departments.).

Miscellaneous Tasks: 10%

• Assist other employees whenever requested (within reason).

• Work with Photographer and Social Media Manager to cross-promote on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

• Meet with clients to discuss potential videos.

• Assist Photographer in maintaining equipment/technology, cleaning up server.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of videography.

• Understand how to use Adobe Suite

• Understand how to effectively manage the YouTube page

• Understand and abide by Inkblot, ASUN, and university standards

• For promotional videos, aim to make them around 1 minute and no longer that 1 minute, 30 seconds

• Use Adobe Creative Suite to edit/animate videos

• Be able to communicate/update all relevant parties through Basecamp software

• Be able to make impartial decisions

• Be able to take direction

• Be able to see the big picture (Ex. What effect a video will have on the audience or ASUN culture)

• Have respect for the office and its associates

• Have good communication skills

• Have good attention to detail

• Demonstrate good organizational skills

• Have an understanding for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

• Develop an understanding of Apple computers
