Pay Rate $8-$12.00
Minimum Experience/Education

Must be a currently enrolled UNC Charlotte graduate student.
*Only graduate students will be considered. *Must be in good academic standing.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Open to any major, but preferred majors are Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering. MS Office proficiency, esp. MS Excel. Experience in Visual Basic Programming using MS Excel is also preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Computer and electronic troubleshooting. Must be comfortable learning new systems. Must work well with a team and independently. Training in special assistive technology software provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

Student Technology Assistant will assist with tasks related with Information Technology and/or Assistive Technology such as:
• Assist with transition to new Disability Services enterprise software system – working with DS staff, explaining to students and/or faculty how to use the system, assisting with workflows and training, and trouble-shooting
• Evaluate accessibility of websites (Training will be provided).
• Evaluate accessibility of applications, software and electronic services using assistive technology. (Training will be provided).
• Assist with moving objects such as computer, monitor and/or printers.
• Install software and hardware to computer in the Office of disability Services.
• Update system and other software in the computers used in the Office of Disability Services.
• Create and maintain a list of software installed on the DS test center computers.
• Help to maintain recorders and smart-pens and make ready for next users.
• Update the software and hardware inventory of IT and AT equipment.
• Assist in surplus unwanted devices and items.
• Perform basic troubleshooting for computers, scanners, and printers including hardware and software.
• Assist with maintenance of the note taking scanners and computers.
• Assist with Braille and maintaining text conversion as needed.

Other Work/Responsibilities

• Assist in other tasks as needed.
• Assist with final exams administration.
