The Graham Center Department is currently seeking a Student Technician Assistant to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:

  • Assist with the management of the Student Union (GC & WUC) website, digital marketing, electronic message boards, and social media.
  • Assist with the management of the GC computer lab, Wellness and Recreation Center digital signage, and other related equipment.
  • Act as the 1st level support technician for Student Union IT and Wellness and Recreation Center-related support issues.
  • Provide backup assistance in other areas of the Student Union as necessary.
  • Respond quickly, competently, and courteously.
  • Route escalated issues to the Supervisor/ Manager or additional Information Services teams (FIU DoIT).
  • Identify, research, and resolve fundamental technical problems that may arise.
  • Assist staff in resolving basic technical issues or concerns.  
  • Maintain workstation inventory in Active Directory and ensure all endpoints adhere to the department and DoIT security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of all workstation modifications.
  • Identify current and future needs to ensure websites and applications support the department's mission.
  • Identify potential areas of technology improvement and savings. Create and maintain interdepartmental relationships. Maintain knowledge of current industry trends. Moves computing devices and peripherals from one location to another, i.e., computers, printers, and phones, when requested.
  • Follows Student Union protocols and seeks input from administrators.
  • Assist guests using the Esports Lounge during regular operation hours and events as needed.

 

Customer service knowledge
None to basic level of Microsoft Word.
Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

Student Assistant

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters. 
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

Required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

$12.00/hour
