The Office of the Registrar seeks candidates of exceptional ability and promise for the position of Student Systems Specialist. This position reports to the Associate Registrar for Student Systems and is an active participant in the department and the University. The primary responsibility of the Specialist is oversight of specific areas of student records including Deans' Actions, adviser assignments, enrollments, and grades. These significant technological functions require scrupulous attention to detail as well as skill working within PeopleSoft student records.

 

The second responsibility is operational support of the Student Records System; this involves working with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) in the maintenance and enhancement of the system. The Specialist will write functional specifications, file ServiceNow tickets, troubleshoot data problems, update documentation, collaborate with staff across various university offices, and resolve data issues.

 

The Student Systems Specialist will participate in implementation of annual system enhancement projects and delivered upgrades. Tasks include developing test plans, system testing, and deployment. The Specialist will work with the OIT technical team and Registrar Office colleagues as well as assist the Associate Registrar in coordinating testing efforts and ensuring complete and accurate testing of PeopleSoft functionality.

 

The Specialist will also participate in the general work of the department such as Commencement, Freshman Advising and Course Selection, TigerHub management, and online matriculation.



Essential Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in database systems and analysis; PeopleSoft and higher education experience preferred
  • Ability to participate in multi-layered project planning and implementation
  • Demonstrated attention to technical detail

This position requires familiarity with relational databases and, specifically, with PeopleSoft Student Records. Experience with system upgrades and with writing test scripts and functional specifications is required. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
