Summary: The Student Support Coordinator is a grant-funded position responsible for conducting academic assessment and individualized career assessments for individuals who are coming through the Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning (WELL) Program at the Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships. The Student Support Coordinator will conduct workforce development related workshops and will regularly meet with WELL participants.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and related experience in psychology, human relations, social work, communications, workforce development, or a related field and two years of directly related work experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint or comparable software.    
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel or coach using a strengths-based, individualized approach, especially for individuals with multiple barriers to employment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of staff, students, and participants.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and data management skills.
  • Ability to handle issues which are broad and complex.

Preferred:

  • Collaborative approach to achieving goals. 
  • Possesses a work ethic that encourages teamwork and innovation through adaptability, flexibility, and diplomacy.  
  • Strong knowledge of current labor market demands, barriers to employment, and established relationships with industry leaders and community organizations in North Philadelphia preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse adult population

This position requires a background check.

This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

This position is a grant funded position.
