Position Summary
The Summer Conference Assistant (CA) is a student employed by the Department of Facilities Event Management (FEM) and reports to the Director of Facilities Events Management.
Please note: Due to the critical role and demanding nature of the position, it is expected that the responsibilities of the CA be the number one priority after academics. This position is a serious time commitment with willingness to be available and accessible to guests that are temporarily housing on campus.
Essential Functions
  • Must live on campus of the duration of employment and is expected to professionally represent UIW and the Department of Facilities Event Management
  • Work with a team of Conference Assistants to prepare the arrival packets or departure of guests during the summer
  • Fully participate in staff orientation and training
  • Attend and actively participate in daily or weekly staff meetings throughout the summer
  • Serve in an on-call rotation to assist guests with lockouts, maintenance issues and other after-hours needs
  • Perform dorm hall check-ins and check outs for summer conference guests
  • Perform pre and post room inspections and perform daily inspections of common areas
  • Assist in maintaining key and access card inventories
  • Maintain proper use of facilities, requesting and noting maintenance and custodial concerns as needed
  • Prepare reports and correspondence as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Hours
This is a part-time position whose anticipated workload averages up to 20 hours a week.
20 hours per week (on average) divided as follows;
  • 4 hours in FEM Office (University)
  • 8 hours in the hall (University)
  • One on-call weekday duty night per week
  • One weekend duty every 4 weekends
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move about campus and navigate to and from locations.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
