This position is located in Franklin County.

Responsibilities are basic and routine in nature.  This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, aid faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care.  Duties will be clear and direct.  The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values. 

This is a temporary student assistant position which will run from Monday, May 6th to Friday, August 9, 2024.  The successful candidate will work 16-24 hours a week in May with negotiable days; and up to 38 hours per week, Monday through Friday, June 3 through August 9. This might also include some evening and weekend hours.  There is some flexibility built into the schedule. Note: if a student is enrolled in classes, they can work up to 28 hours per week but during breaks they can increase the hours to 38.  

 

The successful individual will assist 4-H personnel and Extension staff in the implementation of programming with diverse elementary to middle school youth.  Teaching experience (formal or informal) is desired, with a focus on experiential (hands-on learning).  Knowledge of agriculture and gardening is a plus. Experience with 4-H youth development or similar youth programs desired.

A willingness to prep educational materials and room environments in advance for four summer programs is needed. One of the programs will take place at a local school, and the other three will be on the OSU campus in Columbus. The individual selected will need access to transportation in order to reach these sites and to secure program supplies on occasion.

The Student Assistant will also participate in activities and meetings with OSU Extension professional staff in the county, and attend meetings and events with community partners to assist 4-H personnel and staff in the development and implementation of those programs in Franklin County.
