Scope of Job
To assist in the planning and operation of Student Success initiatives or projects designed to improve student experiences and outcomes. Responsible for coordinating and carrying out the day-to-day activities of assigned programs, initiatives, or projects.
Description of Duties
  • Implements proactive and responsive initiatives or projects to ensure that prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with university wide student success objectives.
  • Conducts tracking, progress monitoring, and analysis of student populations to facilitate student persistence and progress, retention, and/or degree completion.
  • Investigates student inquiries and provides solution-oriented recommendations.
  • Develops and implements high-quality initiatives and activities to move the needle on student success outcomes and the student experience.
  • Responsible for meeting with assigned student population for problem solving, counseling, or to discuss issues relating to retention, degree completion, or student success.
  • Responsible for advising students over university policies and procedures related to the specific student inquiry or concern.
  • Collaborates with university stakeholders/partners to promote the goals and objectives of Student Success.
  • Supervises and organizes seminars, workshops, and presentations for designated student populations.
  • Prepares regular reports, proposals, manuals, or other documentation for management use or as required for project, program, or initiative.
  • Serves as part of an interdepartmental team to support students from orientation to commencement, to employment or advanced study.
  • Reviews records and reports of activities to ensure progress toward specified program objectives; recommends modifications to procedures as required to ensure that objective is attained.
  • Connects students to on-campus and community resources according to their specific needs.
  • May conduct formal training or instruction over program goals, tools, resources, and university policies and procedures.
  • Maintains records of trends in student issues, policy and procedural modifications, etc.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, seminars, and university-wide events related to the mission and goals of student success and achievement gaps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

One (1) year of experience working with student populations, student retention/engagement, tracking and case management, or degree completion related activities.

Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work may be required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
