Metropolitan College (MC) is a joint education-workforce-economic development initiative among the University of Louisville, Jefferson Community & Technical College, Louisville Metro, State of Kentucky governments and charter employer UPS. This program offers access to post-secondary education opportunities for eligible employees in the Next Day Air operation at UPS Worldport. The primary function of the MC Student Success Specialist III is to monitor the enrollment of current MC students to determine MC program benefit eligibility. The Student Success Specialist III participates in the enrollment management process of new MC student to ensure campus, community, and employment resources work collaboratively to employ, enroll management, and retain students to achieve MC and partner goals. Counseling skills are implemented to proactively engage and assist students in understanding their student financial aid accounts, tuition/fee billing, and application of all financial awards. Through direct and ongoing contact to an assigned cohort, this position will assist students to identify barriers and develop a plan to persist academically as well as in the workforce. Furthermore, this position educates students regarding successful career planning and connects students to academic, community, and employment resources helpful in obtaining individual academic and career goals. To achieve these goals, this position must work closely with constituents from corporate partners, educational partners, and the community.  MC Student Success Specialist III are expected to develop comprehensive knowledge of all partners of the MC Council (i.e UPS, Jefferson Community and Technical College, University of Louisville, and local and state workforce development services) including structure, mission, resources, technology, policies, and procedures.

There are eight MC Student Success Specialist III working under the supervision of the Director of Metropolitan College.  While each counselor is responsible for a student cohort (including 200+ students), the team works together to develop the annual communication plan; identify data needs and implement assessment; provide career development services and career pathway programs; employ services aimed at student academic and employment retention; provide services that support community building and student recognition; implement enrollment management procedures for new participants; and implement various student services programs that support student success such as themed community housing, financial literacy, career mentoring, etc. This position will also contribute to creating the annual strategic plan which sets program goals to achieve the organization's mission.

Each MC Student Success Specialist III has the opportunity for cross-training, leadership development, and skill diversification by providing overall leadership to specific MC service areas. Through their leadership, Student Success Specialist III must be thoughtful and strategic in meeting the needs of all MC partners, support student success, delegate tasks, ensure service accessibility to third-shift employees, and provide oversight to ensure the collaborative work of colleagues is thoroughly completed in a timely manner.  The MC Student Success Specialist III hire, set project priorities, evaluate, and supervise graduate student interns.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
