Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The School of Nursing supports the university’s advisement goals to support enrollment, matriculation, and student academic success. Thus, we seek a passionate, energetic individual capable of contributing to expanding the RN-BSN degree program and supporting all programs. The candidate must be able and willing to support recruitment efforts and advise students, coordinate student admissions, and organize, participate, and lecture in student learning communities and activities as needed.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The School of Nursing of the Lloyd College of Health Science and Technology seeks a professional, knowledgeable candidate to serve as student success coordinator/advisor to promote retention and academic success. The successful candidate will know about nursing programs. Under the direction of the associate/assistant Dean, the successful candidate will engage students in various services and activities to support recruitment and progress toward graduation. These activities include but are not limited to determining eligibility for cohort-based programs and providing guidance, services, access to resources, program activities, development opportunities, and a network of support to promote student academic success, enrollment persistence, student recruitment, and overall achievement of personal and professional career goals for nursing students. The successful candidate may be assigned a teaching load of 4 credits as a lecturer.
This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work. Fayetteville State University employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Description of Work Continued:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Percentage of time 25%
  • Organizing and attending student recruitment activities in the School of Nursing. Supporting enrollment management and retention strategies in the School of Nursing through targeted interventions. Collaborating with the Admissions Committee to determine student eligibility for nursing programs
  • Advising current and prospective students regarding admissions, academics, resources, financial aid, professional development, career pathways, and other topics as needed.

Percentage of time 20%
  • Maintaining detailed notes of student interactions and communications.
  • Reviewing early alerts for students at risk (EAB, Self-Service Banner, Canvas, Withdrawals, DFW rates, etc.).
  • Reviewing student files to ensure eligibility is maintained within program-defined requirements. Analyzing academic progress to confirm continued eligibility.
  • Assist in developing student educational plans.

Percentage of time 20%
  • Determining necessary resources for students and connecting students with resources to support academic success.
  • Completing administrative duties such as program reports, maintaining program records, tracking cohort data, and managing program need to support program compliance and success.
  • Participating in developing, implementing, and updating program guidelines and procedures.

Percentage of time 15%
  • Assisting with planning and participation in special programs such as new student orientation, open houses, and recruitment fairs.
  • Promoting a student success program by designing and developing informational or promotional materials to publicize program services.
  • Preparing or updating program websites, bulletins, newsletters, handbooks, policy guides, fact sheets, brochures, etc.

Percentage of time 15%
  • Participating in committees and task forces related to program-specific or student service issues.
  • Maintaining currency on policies, procedures, and regulations about and affecting student success programs and other related areas (i.e., admissions, financial aid, registration, articulation agreements, course, and degree requirements, graduation requirements, petitions, other student services, etc.).

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A Master’s degree in psychology, social sciences, health, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Some work experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising, counseling, admissions, enrollment management, or student affairs.
