The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Student Shuttle Driver on the Dahlonega campus. This position will drive buses to transport passengers over specified routes to on and off campus points according to a time schedule. May need to drive shuttle for special events off campus as needed. Must operate University vehicles in a safe and effective manner, following all local traffic regulations. Must make simple and complex decisions regarding emergency, traffic, and customer services situations quickly. Ability to deal with stressful situations and drive safely despite distractions, including two-way radio conversations and passenger conversations/questions. Must be reliable, dependable and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. This position will have variable shift hours; will work with student class schedule; summer semester driving opportunities vary and may be suspended.

  • Drive shuttle vehicle to transport passengers over specified routes to on and off campus points according to a time schedule. Operates vehicles to transport groups around campus as assigned.
  • Ensure all safety rules and regulations for transporting passengers are adhered to at all times during transportation.  Advises passengers of rules and regulations when necessary. Assists in the proper boarding and disembarking of passengers in wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Announces stops and conforms to all aspects of ADA regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete a pre- & post trip/route inspection, and immediately notify supervisor of any issues or concerns. Responsible for making sure vehicles are clean and in good working condition before transporting passengers.
  • Completes and submits written reports concerning accidents, incidents, and any other miscellaneous reports as required. Maintains statistical data for passenger counts, mileage and any other data as required.
  • During times not driving vehicles, will work in Parking Services as directed by Parking Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent Customer service and communication skills, prioritize safety and following procedure, reliable and dependable.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
