Summary

The Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan seeks an interested individual to serve in a Student Services Associate Intermediate position in the Student Academic Affairs Office. This position supports the department?s educational mission by producing term by term course offerings that meet the needs of undergraduate and graduate students.

Responsibilities*

Develop a command of the curriculum for each of the department's majors, graduate programs, and related academic programs.  Project demand for seats in various categories of courses.   Communicate with faculty regarding matters of enrollment and the details of course scheduling; collaborate with several departments to schedule jointly offered courses; enter course data in Wolverine Access and the LSA Course Guide;  coordinate exams and proctors; assign lab fees;  stay up to date on room scheduling policies as required by the Provost and Dean's Office; schedule wet labs;  work with TAC, faculty and staff to find and schedule rooms for exams and special accommodations needs.

Maintain and respond to data requests regarding tenure track faculty teaching records; verify that faculty are meeting teaching obligations; maintain lecturer teaching history and projected schedules, as well as joint faculty obligations and teaching plans.  Coordinate the course evaluation process ordering, storing, and distributing to the appropriate staff and faculty administrators.

Provide annual teaching reports for Rackham and LSA.  Provide data to support internal and external Training Grant applications. Respond to inquiries from external entities for program reports, including HHS-NIH, Petersons, APA, and others.   Work with the program director to develop a variety of ad hoc reports on enrollment patterns, course demand, student funding, and other data related to student services.  

Work as a member of a cross-trained and highly collaborative team planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of departmental events including recruitment activities, student professional development and social events, department commencement, and other events in support of the graduate and undergraduate programs.

In collaboration with the program director identify and participate in courses that address skills needed in this position and in preparation for future opportunities. Learn how to use Business Objects; attend college staff meetings LUGS meetings as appropriate.  In collaboration with supervisor, identify training needs Seek service opportunities on departmental, college, and university committees as appropriate.


Required Qualifications*

An associate degree.  Experience with student records modules of M-Pathways.  Familiarity with LS&A and University student administration procedures and policies.  Two or more years of experience working directly with faculty.  Excellent communication skills.  Successful history of working in a team setting and offering exemplary customer service.  Ability to work independently and manage several tasks at once in a high-traffic, fast-paced and ambiguous setting.  Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and database software applications (Word, Excel, Business Objects). 


Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a primarily work schedule of 8am to 5pm, M-F. This position will require some scheduling flexibility to support student events and academic needs during evenings and weekends throughout the year. This position will require on-site work a minimum of three days per week. 


Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $38,000 to $47,000, please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate?s experience.
