Position Announcement

UVU is seeking a student event planning intern for the Office of Student Services. This student will work with the Program Manager for Events as a student support intern. This position will be 15 hours per week and offer 3 credit hours of internship credit.

This team member will work to help create events, both donor-facing and community-facing, for the Student Services Portfolio, including but not limited to the following offices: Multicultural Student Services, Native American Initiative, Latino Initiative, International Student Services, Women’s Success Center, LGBTQ Student Services, Accessibility Services, and Veteran Student Center.

This student will aid with multiple events throughout the semester.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Organizing event set-up and takedown, and other on-site event management

  • Overseeing different event areas including tracking attendance, registration, etc.

  • Organize supplies and equipment in preparation for events.

  • Placing orders, purchasing supplies, and keeping track of receipts in accordance with the event or program budget.

  • Work with staff, vendors, volunteers, and committee members to address potential problems that may arise.

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the needs of a wide variety of events

  • Report to the Programs Manager and help with other duties as assigned

A successful candidate has:

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with various degrees of involvement.

  • Must effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with the staff, committee members, volunteers, event attendees, and any involved third parties.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be able to accomplish projects independently.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite is preferred.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a current UVU Student.

  • Must have an aggregate GPA of B or better.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to students in the Hospitality Management & Event Planning program.
