Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Endodontics discipline is committed to advancing oral health through therapies focused on preserving the natural dentition.
Position Summary
The Student Services Assistant provides administrative support to the faculty, students and designated staff members for the Advanced Education in Endodontics program to ensure efficient office operations. This position will assist the Predoctoral Program Director with all courses, labs and schedules, student assignments, eMedley and STAR grading (report/exam/grading software) and student certificates/awards. 
The Student Services Assistant will electronically track students competencies and requirements so updates can be instantly reflected. The person in this position works in close collaboration with other administrative staff in the Division to manage social media groups (Facebook, Instagram, ASOD Weekly Wisdom, etc.) and on other projects as required. This position will work closely with the Business Coordinator and will provide backup support to the clinical front desks and use EPIC software when needed. The position is the first contact for the Division of Comprehensive Oral Health and will provide overall administrative management and coordination of functions for the area discipline within the Division.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. Preferred candidate should be organized and detail oriented. Should be a self-starter, able to manage time and work independently. Individual should possess the ability to work independently and as a team member. Individual should possess the ability to provide customer support. Be prepared to cross-train in all department clerical/administrative duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The preferred candidate will have experience in a clinical and academic setting; will have a strong record of accomplishment of excellent customer service, accounting acumen and appropriate problem-solving skills. Experience with Mac computer systems/software a plus. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Access) strongly desired. Individual should possess the ability to work as a team member and to provide customer support. Experience with University systems and software is desired.
