Department Summary
The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Assistant Director, Tutoring and Writing Support provides leadership and operational oversight for tutoring and writing support services within the Center for Academic Performance (CAP). This position supervises the Tutoring Services Specialist and Writing Coordinator and provides oversight of initiatives, service delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement within the tutoring and writing support portfolios.
The Assistant Director collaborates with academic programs, faculty, and other campus stakeholders to identify student support needs, address service gaps, and strengthen tutoring and writing resources. The position also supports budget and resource planning, provides administrative oversight of service exceptions, advises the Director regarding emerging needs and operational priorities, and represents CAP through presentations, programs, meetings, and other campus initiatives as needed. This position is hybrid, working both on campus and remotely, and conducts meetings both in person and through virtual meeting platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time sensitive environment and provide comprehensive updates.

Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Higher Education, Education, Counseling, or other related field is preferred.
- Experience providing academic counseling in a higher education setting.
Job Duties
- Establish and oversee service standards, procedures, priorities, and quality expectations for tutoring and writing support services.
- Provide direct supervision of the Tutoring Services Specialist and Writing Coordinator, including leadership and operational oversight of CAP's tutoring and writing support services and initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic programs, faculty, and other campus stakeholders to identify and address tutoring and writing support needs and strengthen service delivery.
- Identify gaps in tutoring and writing support services and collaborate with CAP staff and the Director to develop appropriate solutions and resources.
- Monitor tutoring and writing support utilization, outcomes, student needs, and assessment data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
