Job Description

Assist the research team on a multiple research projects.  Motivated student looking to assisting a research team to conceptualize, create, model, perform numerical simulations and estimate viability of various mechanical design concepts,. This may include the use of thermodynamics, electrodynamics or kinematics. The student should have working knowledge of Solid modeling (Solid Works preferred) Rhinoceros, or Sketchup, fabrication experience (3D print, laser cut, water jet, etc.).  Project themes may include sustainability efforts, material analysis and fabrication for energy storage or other renewable energy projects. Other responsibilities will include literature and state of the art technologies review; assist with experiments, data entry, and creation of presentations for the sponsors and industry representatives


Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in ME, EE, ChemE, AE, Physics or CSE, Design computing or related fields
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SolidWorks (preferred)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excel based computation
  • Task / team leadership  experience
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas

10–20 hours per week
