Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
The student researcher will have the opportunity to work with the primary engineering team at Smartenit, Inc., as they do everything from plan, design, build, and troubleshoot new wireless devices and various pieces of hardware and software intended to expand the Internet of Things. The student researcher will gain incredible insight into and experience with a number of prominent wireless automation protocols, and how to use them to create tangible solutions and products.
The ideal candidate is one who is passionate, detail-oriented, and driven. Encountering roadblocks or snags is part of practical engineering and an individual who is persistent, while being creative is the one who will succeed.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Test Web and Mobile applications. Compare functional, requirements, specifications and documentation.
  • Work with Development engineers to identify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Create scripts to automate testing to ZigBee, Matter, WiFi, and LTE (cellular) based products.
  • Debug/Test hardware used in next generation home automation products.
  • Analyze hardware performance including power consumption, RF performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Prior experience with hardware equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, digital loads, and function generators, soldering, etc., preferred but not required
  • Prior knowledge/experience of creating test scripts/ setting up test environments for Hardware and Software
  • Proficient at minimum one Scripting Language: Python, Perl, Ruby, Etc.
  • Experience in Java, C/C++, JavaScript, PHP a plus
