Job Description Summary
The Sociology Department seeks a Student Research Assistant to support Through Internees Eyes: Japanese American Incarceration Before and After, an education project conducted by a faculty member in the Department of Sociology. The project offers a digital storytelling model with detailed pedagogical materials on creating a family history photo essay for teachers and students. The assistant collaborates with faculty and other team members to contribute to ongoing research projects. Assist in the collection of data through various research methods. Analyze data using appropriate methodologies under the guidance of the Sociology Faculty.
Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data for research projects
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings
  • Assist with data entry and organization
  • Contribute to the research design and methodology
  • Prepare research reports and presentations
  • Communicate research findings effectively in oral and written formats
  • Maintain organized records of research materials and data
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and protocols in research activities
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a program to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • Sufficient knowledge of social science or humanities research methods
  • Sufficient knowledge of Asian American studies
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience applying anthropology or sociology research methods to research projects
  • Familiarity with archival research
